In my opinion, the CD version was wonderful. It helped portray the characters pretty accurately. Her voice was soothing, and the accents she took on helped me form what the characters were all like. I could picture what it was like to live in West Side and attend Twelve O'Clock High School. I also found myself captivated rather than bored, which is interesting since I'm usually a visual learner rather than auditory. I also thought I would not enjoy the sound effects, but I found myself enjoying them more than I thought I originally would. Sometimes I did have a hard time following along because the narrator would skip around the actual play, but it was mostly fine. I do believe it would have been better to see the play in real life, but I think it is a good substitute for it. Just reading the script is interesting, but the voice-over brought the characters and scenery to life. It also helped me picture the play in a way I think suited it the best. If I had watched the play then perhaps I might not have enjoyed it as much since it could have potentially been portrayed in a way that I disagree with.
